This is the homepage of Annemarie and Maarten. Here you will find information on one of our hobbies: Listening to Music, and reproduction of music through our Hifi sets.

News: Starting 2011 we have started migrating the listening and viewing environment to the new technology available:

• Streaming of video and audio from the network and mobile gear to the set's at home.
• We've bought 2 Sonos controllers which are remote controlled by iPad, laptops and Android phones
• Upgraded the server to 2TB storage, and started sampling the complete CD collection to MP3 first and started FLAC
• The family took a subscription to Spotify, and we like it a lot
• This also means that I'm rethinking the setup of the Hifi Set. Where the traditional music reproduction line would be
  CD/DVD player -> amplifier -> speakers , at this moment it is
  Music_on_harddrive->network->Sonos(and such)->amplifier->speakers and it might soon change to:
  Music in Cloud -> Home Network -> Sonos/Media Box -> Dac -> Amplifier -> Speakers
  As you see, DAC, Amp and speakers are the new standard components for every setup, with streaming media devices developing rapidly as technology and infrastructure becomes available.
• And since we all need to be careful with energy consumption, remote control on/off, low-power standby are important in households with 2 or more adults and several listeing/viewing spots. As my current tube amp and Marantz power amp do not meet these requirements, the search for alternatives such as Class-D amps is on.
  
• For this site I'm considering changing part of the site to Joomla content management as it allows me to easily add articles from anywhere in the world and do some bloggin... For the DIY section this will not work on short term as I like to define my own layout of the pages, but for HiFi and Opition and Blog subjects it seems the right choice,
• On a toally different level - we have been reconstructing our living room and do now have hard tile floor instead of wood. This means I'll probably have to spend some time thinking about proper damping of the room once the new furniture etc is in.
